Siemens Imaging (EDM)
Siemens Document Imaging (EDM) data storage and access of electronically stored documents.
Project: Integrate EDM with Soarian Financials to provide for the creation of patients at first point of contact. Store any electronically captured or scanned documentation from ancillary systems; permit specific documentation to be available as a hyperlink from the patient clinical record in Soarian Clinicals.
- Project Highlights:
- Built an interface to transfer patient demographic information
from Soarian Financials to Siemens Document Imaging.
- TPC/IP Connections, HL7 ADT Message Type
- Created an interface to transfer the embedded URL of specific
documents stored in EDM to Soarian Clinicals. Additional
transactions were created from output of the first to allow for
additional result information to file in joining text results to
image link within the clinical result.

- Created an interface to transfer discharge report documents from
Touchmedix to Siemens EDM. Appropriate data is routed to Soarian
Clinicals as an Image pointer from the aforementioned interface.
- FTP Connections, Flat File with EDM data extraction
- Created an interface to transfer waveform images from Philips
IntelliVue to Siemens EDM. A PERL script was created to extract
patient, visit and image detail from file name and create an EDM
.eps file allowing for the appropriate filing of the data to the
patient record. A second PERL script was created to assess if the
content of the data was appropriate, if not an error email was
sent to alert support staff to review. Appropriate data is routed
to Soarian Clinicals as an Image pointer from the aforementioned interface.

- Created an interface to transfer waveform images from Draeger
MEGACARE to Siemens EDM. A PERL script was created to extract
patient, visit and image detail from file name and create an EDM
.eps file allowing for the appropriate filing of the data to the
patient record. A second PERL script was created to assess if the
content of the data was appropriate, if not an error email was
sent to alert support staff to review. Appropriate data is routed
to Soarian Clinicals as an Image pointer from the aforementioned interface.

- Created an interface to transfer transcribed documents from Medquist
to Siemens EDM. Appropriate data is routed to Soarian Clinicals
as an Image pointer from the aforementioned interface.

- Create an interface to extract the Patient MAR that was created as
an electronic print document from the Pharmacy server and transfer
the document to Siemens Imaging (EDM) where the patient data was
extracted to file to the patient record and an Image Pointer message
carrying an embedded URL is sent from Siemens Imaging to Soarian
Clinicals allowing the Discharge MAR to be available within the
patients clinical record.
